Interesting. In the reports it never lists the day, just month/year. Perhaps they don't go to that level of details, i.e. if the DOFD is in fact 12/27/01 the DOFD is considered 12/01 and it falls off on or about 12/01/08. Again, splitting hairs but I am awaiting that fall off to make some moves.

So, noticing that some CRAs use DOLA as their yardstick, I saw that Efax has 12/01 as DOLA.

Clearly according to my bills, DOLP was 11/01/01.

The *activity* was an automatic AOL charge (that was later reversed).

Can I send the copies of the October through December bills to show their was no payment/activity to get that date changed to 11/01, meaning the item will fall off end of next month?

I have heard that disputing things so close to fall-off date can actually prolong their existence on your reports, as they're investigated.

Isn't CRTP set from DOFD, which would have to be at least 30 days from DOLP...so I see if your last pmt was 11/1, then DOFD would have been 30 days *after* that 11/1 pmt, making it 12/01, as the CRA has listed.

You would need to call Efax directly to find out the actual, factual DOFD they have listed. THey can't choose to go by DOLA -- rules say it's DOFD that governs the 7-yr CRTP, they don't get a choice. Now, they can choose which date they actually put for your viewing pleasure on your CRs, but that doesn't mean that's their calculation date. Give them a call & ask, then go from there.

Good point (on not stirring the hornet's nest).

Not to split hairs but since last payment was late (11/1) and next payment was due 11/17, DOFD is 11/18.

In any event, probably best to save the effort and chance it then to just let it fall off in January as it should.

yeah but usually you have a "Grace period" btw when the pmt due date is, and when they will actually start considering it LATE... and then after that end date of the grace period when it's truly late, they calculate the 30-days from there. So counting from 11/17, and then including a grace period (say, 10 days??) it could be as late as 12/27 that it was actually considered 30-days past due.
