I had a balance increase from $2k to $9,500k (out of $10k) which I understand as a 22 point drop.

But at the same time, an AU account which had no activity since 2004 ($0k/$13k) had a $235 charge. Wondering if that would account for point drop too?

Yes, cards that are inactive and then take on a balance will result in a point loss to your score.
