Experian no longer provides FICO scores through MyFICO.com and does not sell them through experian.com either. Therefore there are only a couple places you can get an EX FICO.

1. From a lender who pulls your EX and score (FICO is available to lenders)

2. From PSECU who provides a free monthly EX FICO to its members.

I'm not aware of any other method for consumers to get an EX score.

TU and EQ can be purchased

EQ at MyFICO.com or Equifax.com (ScorePower)

TU at MyFICO.com or Transunioncs.com (note "cs" at end)

Message Edited by txjohn on 08-02-2009 08:02 PM

I think I got my experian score from freecreditreport.com but I'm confused wtih FICO and FAKO. I read understanding credit 101 post. I just don't understand how if freecreditreport.com is through experian how it would be a FAKO score?

Anyway, should I get my EQ and TU scores anyway? freecreditreport.com showed me at 723 which I can't really believe....

Nadia

experian, transunion, and equifax are credit reporting agencies. They compile your data into the credit reports you can get at freecreditreport.com, the agencies themselves, and other places.
Your FICO score is a algorithm developed by the Fair Isaac corp. and is propriety. The CRA's, in an effort to avoid paying Fair Isaac have developed their own scoring model which is different from the FICO model. Who cares you say? Since very few lenders using anything other than the Fico model the others are basically meaningless. Since the two scoring models are different they are not comparable.

Hope this clears it up a bit for you nadial88 (I know it gets confusing)

If that is the case, since I pulled up my freecreditreport.com score (which says experian) of 723, I do not have to get my experian score anywhere else and can go ahead and use myfico.com to get my TU and EQ?

Just verifying so I can get the ball rolling lol. Thanks again.

Nadia

FCR sells the FAKO score called a PLUS score. There's a chance that if you order your FICO scores you'll have a higher score. Congrats, BTW.

My bad...I missed your siggy.

Unfortunately, thanks to our dear friends over at Experian, as of February we can no longer pull our EX FICO score. They no longer allow consumer to purchase their own FICO score. You can however still get it from a lender if that's what they used for lending, and you can get it from a small CU in PA called PSECU. You can't pull it there, but that CU will print it on your monthly statements.

Your FAKO can go up and FICO down, and vice versa, for the same event. For example, my last CA fell off EX. When we could pull our EX FICO scores prior to Feb. my EX FICO increased 58 points because it fell off. My EX FAKO (the PLUS score...same as from FCR) dropped 8 points. Go figure.
