topic Collection on TU but not EQ in Understanding FICO® Scoring

My TU score is 669. My EQ score is 741. From what I can tell, it's because a medical collection (of $75! Grrrrr) is on the TU but not the EQ.

Why would only one agency have it? And more importantly, how can I get credit decisions made off my EQ score? From what I gather we have no control over what agency a lender or CC company pulls, right? But is there a way to know in advance which agency they pull from? I would like to apply for a mortgage in the somewhat near future (2-5 years). Obviously scores of 669 and 741 are quite different. I'm either a moderate risk or a low risk.

As an aside, I called Miramed Revenue Group about the collection and the woman on the phone said "N-O NO" about having it removed. I am thinking of writing a GW letter.

Creditors may report to 1,2,or 3 CRAs - or none. You are fortunate that they didn't report to EQ. What about EX?

It is the collection that damages your credit, not the amount.

It is pretty safe to say that any normal mortgage will pull reports from all 3 CRAs. Many pull one combined report that shows data from all 3 on one report but that is just to make it easier to read. Most, perhaps all, use the middle score.

As the collection gets older, the impact will be less.

I recall something about it being easier to get medical collections removed. I'm sure you will hear from others about that.

Ah, I see what you were asking. I did get my free report and I don't remember. I didn't print it out, so I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to see if I can still get that report so I can check.
