Accounts from the OC are figured into your AAoA, whether they are open or closed.

That's the problem that arises from alot of the FAKOS out there. I know that Credit Karma only calculates open accounts and excludes closed ones. FICO on the other hand includes both. I'm glad creditors don't use the Creditkarma scores.

I am sure this has been asked and answered a million times but I am still unclear exactly how that part of the scoring works. I have a BK from '09 and there are 10 IIB accts across the 3 CRAs that are showing. Are they included in the AAoA? Or is it just open or open and "closed in good standing?"

Thanks that makes more sense to me and it makes me feel like at least those pesky IIB accounts are helping me in some way. And yeah, my credit karma account is definitely figured with just the open accounts. But with my new credit accounts from my spree I was worried it was really going to drop my AAoA.

thanks again Shogun.

You're welcome.

Those new accounts hurt a little at first. You take a hit for the HP, and then a hit to your AAoA. But it's a necessary evil. You need those accounts to thicken your file and make your reports healthier so they will grow.

A thin file with a good score isn't enough, you need to thicken that file with a few accounts.
