What happens to your fico score when good installment/tradeline debt is deleted?

it usually drops-

Even when my SL's that had recent (less than a year old) lates on them were deleted my EX dropped 15 points.

Did your CFL (consumer finance loan) TL get deleted?

The one with HFC is still open. Once we refinance it will not be closed but open and we will still have that line of credit. Is that considered installment? or revolving? What should I do? Should I try to get some new lines of installment credit?
