You'll be sitting there, posting away, fat, dumb, and happy, and suddenly you're being measured for your school-crossing-guard badge and taking an intensive course in Anger Management 101. (To be quickly followed by AM 102, 201 and 202, and a mini-course in the application of soft restraints.)

Good question about how to become a mod. To add to (or clarify?) what Hauling said, the mods and admins get together occasionally to discuss who within the community might be effective moderators, based on the knowledge and attitude that they've shown in their posts over time. Then if we all agree that a particular person would be an asset to the team, we'll ask (tap on the shoulder?) if they're interested and hope they say yes.

To get an idea of what qualities we look for in a mod, I'd suggest reading as many mod posts as you can to see how they handle various situations that arise in the community. You can also feel free to pm any of us with any specific questions you may have.

txjohn should be a moderator - if he/she is not already a moderator. A few people over in the complaints department should take a how-to-post-more-clearly class from him/her.
