browser problems

I use Firefox as my preferred browser & for the past 4 days I have not been able to access the URL for MyFico.com using my Firefox browser .. In order to do this I needed to open IE which is not my preference.. The error message I keep getting is " link no longer active " even if I look up MyFico on a search engine & click on one of the cache listings I get the same error message.. I've tried typing the URL in & still get the same message..

Windows or Mac, and which versions? What about anti-virus etc software?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Along with the information that haulingthescoreup has asked for, which is very important in determining the problem, are you using the URL: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/

It took my friends and family years to convince me to switch to Firefox, but now it is my preferred browser too! I currently have FF version 3.6.13 and haven't experienced any problems yet.

Windows7 & Norton Anti Virus & had no problems with the site up until 4 days ago & not having any issues with any other sites.. I even went in & put MyFico on the approved site in the Security section of Options tool.. Dump my files & temp's about every hour & do not retain any browsing history..

In order to use this forum I had to open IE (Ugh & Sigh) & I don't like IE too many issues especially security wise.. I love my Firefox a lot higher tech & more options I'm a retired systems analyst & although I've aged I'm still a geek @ heart.. What puzzles me is that everything was fine up until 4 days ago & not having problems with any other URL.. I logged onto FF help forums & put the question out there to see if I get any responses to this issue..

Not Found

Hi nana41,

I really need to know which version of Firefox you are using. Click on the Help and then click on About Mozilla Firefox to see which version you have. You don't need to post the image, just let me know the version. Thank!

Me sorry I thought I did that it's 3.6.13 .. I'll take my senior hat off now..

I called the MyFico customer service & told them to cancel my service if this is going to be an ongoing issue.. I knew I was tied to the 3 month minimum but that's ok since I cannot figure out what this sudden problem is.. However, if you can assist me I would be known as 'happy nana41 in Florida'.. ♥

Thank you for getting back to me. One more question, have you tried to restart your computer since the problem started?

Please give me a little time to take this up with technical support and see if I can find an answer for you.

One idea that was suggested to me was to ask you to turn off all your addons from Tools -> Extensions. If all addons are disable and you can access with no problems then try turning them on one by one on again to see if that is the source. I was told that addons have a effect like memory leak.

Yes it's been restarted many times because its been like this since Saturday.. Prior to Saturday obviously I had no problems with the URL since I enrolled & was able to view my info..

I'm religious about dumping my files & defragment every night & store no temp files..

OK just disabled them all (17) & tried again still no go..

After I did that I tried several other credit sites ie: Experian, Credit Inform & Equifax to see if I had problems with them since I know some of the "secure sites" like the banking ones because of all the info on them cause issues from time to time; however I was able to log on & browse around on all of them with no problems..

My son just sent me this laptop in Dec to replace my other one which had Vista (ugh) this one has Windows7 & just checked it has 99 GB free space of 147 GB ..

I'm totally frustrated since I cannot figure it out.. TY for your help

I've got it, I've got it I went into the help forum on FF to see if anyone answered my questions but alas no.. However, I started to read someone elses question & the answer to it was almost like the one you gave me about disabling the addons except in that answer it was suggested they do it in safe mode.. So I thought what the heck its worth a try I printed the instructions & followed them to disable the addons & found the bad one.. I will let the system clean itself out tonight since that really wasn't a new addon I've had it for awhile but tomorrow i will try & reinstall it & see what happens.. It has to do with charity donations so its a fav of mine @ www.goodsearch.com

Now to call MyFico customer service & tell them not to cancel my subscription..

Just to update you everything was going fine with the MyFico site this morning so I felt it was safe to reinstall the GoodSearch.com toolbar since I had it & used it for about 6 months.. After I did the install I tried to go into MyFico.com & got that error message again so I disabled the toolbar.. I see by the GoodSearch site before you do the install it mentions something in regard to an update for FF so perhaps they did something with this update.. I will email them otherwise if I don't use them my rescue group won't get the donations ..

This is so interesting & fascinating about the GoodSearch.com site issue.. When you are shopping or looking @ a merchants site if they participate in the donation programs from GoodSearch.com site or the iGive.com site a pop up screen comes up automatically telling you how much of the purchase will be donated to your charity.. I thought I remembered seeing MyFico come up when I enrolled so I just went back onto both of the charity sites to see which one donates via the MyFico purchases & oddly its GoodSearch & its their toolbar that is giving me the grief when I try to logon to MyFico the past couple of days.. Now I know I will send them an Email..
