I see tons of threads where people obviously forgot to check that box, and it screws up the whole post. I've done it too.

Ah, the joys of Firefox. I whine about this endlessly. Lithium is aware, and I think that they are working on it.

Or at least put the click box up at the top where you notice it, along with all the other buttons!

Happens when you go back and edit, too. The dreaded blob post!

If the backend is written in C# (seeing how this board uses aspx), this should be a 5 minute fix.

There's 2 ways to do it.

First, make the checkbox "Do NOT Automatically convert" and reverse the logic for the if(checkbox == checked)

Second.. make the checkbox ticked initially..

Should be a very quick easy 'fix'

Are you guys really still having problems with this? I use Firefox and it's checked by default for me. It has been for quite a while.

Edit: Here is a fix for the time being. Any FireFox users should go into their profile, click on the "preferences" tab, then uncheck the box that says "Use WYSIWYG Message Editor". After you save the changes, you shouldn't have any problems.

This should at least help those of you who read this thread. I'll look into making not using the WYSIWYG editor the default until the issue gets completely fixed, but it may take a little while.

There has been one change made, and I'm grateful for this, anyway: if I forget to check the box, and I click "preview post", the preview is a blob, but the original text box retains the paragraphing. So when I blob the preview, at least I don't have to go back and try to figure where I had the paragraphs originally.

So it's halfway there, anyway!

I know I'm computer challenged, but I still have to check the box for HTML line breaks. And the "Use WYSIWYG Message Editor" thing is checked and saved.

Sylviatob, try unchecking it and saving. That should fix the problem! I edited my post to clarify a bit.

Let me know if that doesn't work.

HA! For me (using Firefox on Mac 10.6), I was having trouble because I had a script blocker forbiding Lithium. I used this post to figure it out, tho.
