When you have all of these records and can prove it was a FEMALE that obtained service, then I would send in a dispute to the CRA in mail along with documentation that this is NOT your bill. If that doesn't get the item removed, I'd start sending ITS letters.

This is just how I would handle it.

I am having a nightmare here so any help would be much appreciated. I have observed on my credit reports that there is a collection that was not mine so I disputed it with Equifax but only to be told by them that they have conducted their investigation and that the collection is valid.

I then called the collection agency but they would not give me their client name who is a medical provider, however I Goggle it and found them. So I went to the doctors office and only to find out that a female with a single letter different from my first name and my identical last name, same address and date of birth with my insurance card was seen by that doctor and didn't pay $150.00 which went into collection. This person used my social security number so everything is being based on the SSN although no one ever saw the SSN card. The doctors office and the collection agency is reporting this with my name spelling so it's coming up in my credit file however I am a male and the doctors record shows that the procedure done was for a female.

Is there any way that I can force the doctors office not to report the SSN, as they did not see the actual SSN but rely on what was provided, and also the different spelling of the first name. Also is there a way to force the collection agency to remove this collection from my credit file?

The funny thing is that I received a bill for the $150.00 and paid it not even thinking, they are not out any money and all I care is to get this collection off my record.

Thanks in advance.
