Is it better to dispute online or not?

I have read some where here that it is not recommended to dispute online.. and in others it is better to do it online! so what is the best way to dispute an inaccurate item?

Many people dispute online. Alot has to do with what & why you are disputing.

HappyDays I have disputed collection accounts online and it took about 48 hours to come out verified! I don't know what to do next.. I called OC and requested a police report for ID theft! in order to remove it .. Honestly, I am not sure if this account is mine.so I don't to do ID theft report and later that comes back to hurt me! I think I will fax dispute letters instead of online. can someone help me with a dispute letter sample?
