CA deleted but no score change, why?

I had a paid collection on my EQ CR that is listed on my CR as date assigned 9/2003, i got it deleyed, but didnt see a score change, not even 1 point, so i pulled my last free power score from SW and it showed the account no longer on my CR but my score was the same as it was before I pulled my last free report. whats going on here?

I have 1 last CA on my EQ report, i plan to send a PFD to the CA when the rebate money is deposited into my bank early may, when that one falls off will i get a score increase? if I do how many points aprox?

From my experience, you get very little if any score change if you still have CA remaining.

I've concluded that it isn't how many collections you have on your CR or the amount of them, it is the fact that you HAVE a collection that hurts you.

Someone(can't remember who it was) said that when their last collection fell off at the 7 year mark, they received 70 points.

ok than i guess i will have to wait until that happens,

last thing-- the 1 CA i have listed on my CR on the power SW report says this:

date assigned: 7/1/2004, date reported: 7/1/2005, date last active: 5/1/2004

i dont understand as far as the dates go, shouldnt the date last active be later then date reported?

when it says date assigned: does that mean that the account was assigned to the CA or the CA bought it? or does it not matter?

if this was assigned, i called the OC well they are no longer the OC as they went out of business, they were bought out by another management company the lady said about 2 or 3 years ago and that cant access the records cause they dont eaither a. have access to them or b, the no longer exist.

When the rebate money is in my account i plan to send DV like happy said to do, but my best guess is that if the account was assigned to the CA and the OC went out of business, then the CA wont be able to validate right?

Sounds like they would sure have a hard time validating.

I'd send the DV, and keep the $$ set aside for just-in-case, but sounds like you might scoot out of this one!

but dont the dates seem a little weird since the date of last active is earlier then the date reported, should the dates be the other way around? and yes if they cant validate then we will use the money to pay off my and DH credit card's then put the rest to savings.

also since this CA is on both our CR since it was for an apt should I send the DV w/both our names on it or do I need to send a seprate DV for him?

My only other guess is that maybe another CA had it before, so the original DOLA is 5/04, but the date this most recent CA bought the debt is 07/04??

their are no other CA's, they have had this since DOFD we moved out of the apt in mid 4/2004 and lease was up in 5/2004 which is when the lease was up. they contacted us once i believe in aug or sept of 2004, threatning to sue, never heard a peep from them since.

Correct...and to pick nits here, it's how recently you had that collection.

If you remove any other collection than your most recent, you will achieve little to no benefit.

OTOH, if you have three collections, one last October, one in June 2006 and the third in 2004, removing the one in 2004 is next to useless. Removing the one in 2006 won't help you much. You've got to get rid of the one last October. That would net you a good 20 to 30 points.

sidewinder that's not correct. I had a ca removed and gained 30+ points and I still had 2 CA's remaining on EQ, and 1 on EX and TU...

I will try for you. Mods can correct me if I am wrong but this is what I think:

DOLA is the last date they show a payment I would say and the date assigned is when it was assigned to a CA for non payment . So of course the DOLA is before the date assigned.

date of last activity is listed in May 2004, no payment was ever made that month(may), if it was then this collection wouldnt be on my CR's in the 1st place cause may was the last month of our lease. and i am more curious about the date reported and date assigned

date assigned:7/1/2004

DATE REPORTED:7/1/2005

date of last acivity:5/2004

shouldnt the dates all match? same month and year?

also should i send the DV with my name and DH name or send a seprate one for DH?

To answer your question, NO the dates do NOT seem weird. The date reported could have been yesterday. That's just the date it was updated. Now, given they have not been reporting for so long, [REMOVED]. If they have not been continually reporting, they may have just put away the files on it!

Date assigned is when the CA got the account. Date reported is when they reported it to the credit reporting agencies.... I have had all kind of funky ones like this

stevie: thanks that better understands the last reported, bu the thing is 2 CR's show 7/2005 as dale of last activity while the other shows 9/2004, why would they update on 2 CRA in 7/05 but not the 3rd CRA?

momof2 good question. It is because somone is not accurate. I have the same thing with a CO and a CA collecting that charge off. 1 report shows coming off june 2008 and the others show to come off october 2008. I have tried disputing but just comes back verified and furthern knocks me down so I gave up with worrying about the small difference in dates to protect my score as much as I could

Ok, now that is a good question. Do you know what the actual DOLA is? If it's really 7/05, then, don't try to change the one from 04! LOL...If it should be showing 04, then, you should get the two that say 05 changed, and sue if they do not change them.

In all predictions of FICO score changes, the phrase "YMMV" always applies, and should be understood.

What sidewinder posted above is correct, as a general rule. Your experience may have been different, but what sidewinder posted is still correct.

stevie-- i say the DOLA was 4/2004 cause that was the last month we paid rent, mid 4/2004 we moved back to cali the lease was up the next month may 2004. so if the other two are reporting for 2005 how do i get them to correct it to 2004? also can i also add my DHs name on the DV letter since it is on his CR too, or do i have to send a seprate Dv to the for him?
