RJM - CO Hard inquiry???

Can a CO pull a hard inq without permission?

That stinks. So it looks like I may have some leg work to do on this one. I believe the inquiry is related to a letter I got from them this week about an account that is 10 years plus old that my ex opened with Wachovia Bank and overdrew some funds. They had my old last name on the account too.

I called RJM to inquire about the account and asked if they could provide DV. The guy seemed a bit lost, put me on hold to talk to his supv., came back, put me on hold again, came back. I told him that I believe the account may be fraudulent. I asked for him to provide proof that ties me to the account, signature card, statements, etc. He said his supervisor can only send documentation that they purchased the account and nothing else. They are not reporting on my CR... yet. If they do then I will follow up with a written CMRR DV letter and I guess maybe at that time also address the inquiry? Seems to make more sense to wait and let the inquiry go then to take a chance that they are also going to report this as a collection.

What are your thoughts?

I would just staight sue them- as they are being Moby's with my brother- I am sicking the Dept of Fin on them.

In good spirits...I could tell you one thing...RJM Acquisitions is a GOOD CA...I just dealt with them...they PFD...and they have good settlement amounts...they will stick to their word and deleter from CRA...they are the best CA I have ever dealt with...

I cannot believe you are having problem with RJM. This collection agency is ONE OF THE BEST COLLECTION AGENCIES!

If the debt is legit, propose a settlement and include in the offer the deletion of the report and conversion of the HARD INQUIRY to SOFT, or delete it altogether.

I am sure they will stick to their words.

And in my case, they even gave me copies of the settlement prior to payment. They said i can present it to the CRA should they take longer than 30 days to delete.

Mine was deleted in 4 days.

The issue is that they have not answered the DV and they are not licensed to collect in AZ.

They really are easy to work with. They deleted from DH's file right away!
