New evidence we're being sold out!

Okay, so we all get the SPAM emails about credit repair, etc., right? WELL ~ I've been receiving more "debt reduction" emails, such as "Debtco Debt solutions" that says "Cut your bills in half as seen on MSNBC" than usual over the past couple of weeks, since signing up with Credit Check Total and even more since EQ ScoreWatch.

THEN this afternoon, I receive one that is completely unique and totally new. I've signed up for score monitoring programs and this new one is from "CreditSecurity.com" & has a subject line that reads "Your Credit Score May Have Just Changed". The interesting thing is, I just purchased DHs scores through myFICO last night and this one suddenly showed up today. It's hard telling who sold my email info but I'm not likin it.

I got scorewatch and I got truecredit and never got any kind of spam email like that.

Ditto - had them for about 6-9 months now and no extra spam re: credit/debt.

But if anyone wants viagra or a rolex watch, I totally got the hook up!

I'd take a good hard look at the Credit Check Total. I never did get any spam after myFICO and TrueCredit, but when I had something-or-other through Experian, I was buried. EX is behind Credit Check Total.

I think SideWinder's mention of spyware is the most likely, More often than not, if you've ever gone to a site that has those stupid "Check your computer security" banners on it, you've more than likely downloaded spyware.

Spyware will keep an eye on the sites you visit and will "report back" to the creator/manager of the nasty bit of software where you've been and will tailor your e-mails to match.

I'll bet that all of you that have been effected have the auto-fill feature enabled in your browser, don't you? Sometimes, that's all it takes.

Also, for those of you that are like me, and reBUILDING your credit (rather than just managing it), if you've gone to certain sites to see if there's any credit offers based on your category of credit (poor, bad, good, average, etc), you probably put your addy in. That's what happened to me LONG before I came here.

But I always use a "dummy" email that I can ditch if I need to.

I never got spam from MF EQ or TC. There was an option I think on TC that asked me if I wanted to receive emails and I said no. Maybe that was it. I don't remember I could be wrong. It was a while ago.

I get phone calls all the time about helping me with my bad credit by lowering my interest rates.

I never knew I had bad credit 'til then.

I have to say that I haven't received any spam at all. I have SW, CCT for myself, TC, and Freecreditreport for DW. I'm protective of my e-mail and I use a private domain for my e-mail (not hotmail, yahoo, or the others). But I am SPAM-free.

Like someone else mentioned, I do uncheck the box for "special" offers.

Now I have noticed a dramatic increase in credit-related banner ads. I guess one or more of the mentioned sites places a cookie on the computer and those ad programs scan for these cookies and advertise as such.

I've always received spam emails regarding credit monitoring/credit scores, long before I ever signed up for myFICO.com. However, since I started subscribing to Score Watch, I have been receiving multiple messages offering to cleanse my colon.
