Penfed Duplicate Inquiry

So I joined Pedfed yesterday and when I checked my credit report today on CreditSecure I saw that there were 2 inquiries instead of 1? Is it possible to dispute one of them. I really don't understand why there are 2.

It might have been a display error, or a problem when they pulled the report in the first place.

I'd start by calling PenFed and asking what they show on their end.

Hi Hauling. I called penfed this morning and the CSR didn't seem to understand what I was saying and told me that I needed to call equifax. So I pulled my actual equifax report and called equifax and opened a dispute to remove the other inquiry.

I would not have disputed the inquiry with Equifax. I would have called Penfed and escalated the phone call to a supervisor and explained the situation to them. They could have removed the duplicate inquiry. Obviously you got a less than knowledgeable CSR the first time you called.

Disputing inquiries can lead to extended fraud alerts of up to 7 years on all three of your credit reports.

Not only that - the 2nd INQ won't hurt your score

INQ's from the same source are de-dulicated in scoring.
