i am supposedly on chexsystems blacklist for a CO overdraft bank account problem from 2004.

i remember having a collections company contact me about the problem and i believe i made a settlement with them.

i have not heard anything new on this situation and was made to believe i would be taken off the blacklist 18 months after i made the settlement.

i went to wells fargo to open a new checking account and they still have me on the blacklist.

i have no good info on this chexsystems and how it works. wells fargo says to contact them to figure out why i am still on their blacklist. i call the number provided but cannot speak to anyone it just seems to have an option to leave a message with them giving them a boatload of personal information. they also seem to have a website at consumerdebit.com but this seems sketchy and i am not sure what to trust and how to go about this.

so what is the deal with this chexsystem stuff? should i go through the website? is it legit?

i also noticed on the site that in the FAQ section they say negatives only remain for 5 years. so this is almost to that point anyway.

okay so i have requested the report from chex. hopefully it won't be too long.

so i wonder.. if this chex report has a negative on it still that is keeping me from getting a bank account would the chex report also be used to evaluate me for credit card accounts from the same banks? or do they only use the regular 3 credit agencies for that?
