When applying to open an account, they don't do a hard, do they?

I have an e-trade account, but it has been soooo long ago. I would guess yes. Most other brokerage accounts like Scottrade hit you with an inquiry.

Well, I opened up an eTrade account about 6 months ago and I never saw (still don't) a hard inquiry.

Now, please bear in mind that I never funded the account (went with someone else but never closed the eTrade account), if that makes any diff. They still call me (and email me) asking me what they can do to get me to start trading. :/
