Hi jeffny, welcome to the forums. Please read credit scoring 101 for more information about scoring. For best results, get one of your cards to report a $0 balance. You accomplish this by paying to $0 a few days before the statement cuts. Get the other one to report a balance between 1-9% of your CL. I believe that you will probably see 15-30 points for that, as long as you don't have any derogs on your reports.

Welome to the forums!

Don't panic your scores are fine... you should get prime financing & qualify promo deals. Your uti (balance vs credit limit) may have changed this billing cycling from last months which would explain the minimal change you see. Any score over 720 will get you prime rates but try not to charge more since that raises your uti.

I would say you stand a excellent chance of getting approved for a car loan easily. I think others are more qualified on the forum to help you out, but I would say with a good credit history penfed should approve you. They are a credit union that you can find on the web!!! They strictly pull Equifax only when applying and even if you are not in the military you can become a member for 20 dollars.

I would ask more questions on this site when you get ready to make your move, but the cool thing about Penfed (Pentagon Federal Credit Union) is that once you apply you have 90 days to make a decision on a car loan. You can also ask the finance departments at car dealerships which credit bureaus they use. For example, I know that the Nissan dealer I was at three months ago pulls Equifax and TransUnion.

I would suggest heading over to the AUTO forum and asking questions along the way.

TheTaxMan

Message Edited by TheTaxMan on 12-04-2008 02:12 AM

On your scores/reports that you got here on this site, does it say what % util you are at? Look on page 2 "Understanding Your FICO Score" for this percentage.

With revolving balances of $5915 and CL totalling $24000, that is 24% util, plus both revolving TL showing a balance. The balances that get reported is what matter to scoring. You need to pay down before the creditor reports each month.

FICO likes seeing half or less of your accounts showing balances, overall util <9% and individual util <9%.

You stated you are paying $1300 on one and $100 on another, since the one only has a $500 balance, I am taking it that you are paying only $100 on that one. If anyway possible, I would pay that $500 balance off, let only the larger one report a balance and try to get that balance less than $2100.

Doing the above should get you a bump.

Also, since you bought your scores and reports here, you have the option of using the FICO Score Simulator. Play with it and see what it estimates your score to increase to by paying down your balances by the $1400(plus what you've paid since they last reported) you state you are paying them down.
