Macys and Tribute MC

I was late on my Macys card by about 8 hours. Did not even realize it was due and I paid it as soon as I found out. Needless to say, I got charged a late payment and was concerned about a late on my CR.

I emailed their credit department and asked them please not to report the late to the CRAs. This was my first payment and I really did not want them to think this is how I pay my bills. I explained I was trying to repair and rebuild my credit and the late would be devastating.

Their reply was, they do not report lates until you are 60 days. And they removed the late fee.

Can not ask for more than that!

As for my Tribute MC, which I have had for almost 2 years and never been late. It was set up for automatic payments. The payment got to my bank one day before payday and they sent it back. My bank usually does not do this.

I emailed Tribute and asked them to run the payment again. I never heard from them until I got a letter yesterday saying that since I did not fulfill the terms of my contract, my card has been cancelled but I am still responsible for the payments.

That pretty much bites.

Wonder how much damage that will cause.

Tribute is a hard company to deal with. The same thing happened to me with the closing of my account however due to all of their little fees my account went over by a $16 and the rep assured me that I was fine.

A note on Macy's, they consider your payment "late" if you pay past 5pm on the day its due.

Yes it's on your bill. If it's your first late with them you might be able to get the fee reversed. Try calling the customer service phone number. Or go into a store and speak to an associate about them and have them get you a manager, or use the credit service phones, in store!

They already reversed the late fee. That was a plus, as I did not ask for it, I only asked they not report the late to the CR. But, as I as only 8 hours late and not 31 days they could not do that.

that is true they won't report latepayment untill you are 60 days late.i've been late on my bankofamerica cc payment several times but they don't report i was late. Relax
