The spouse and I just recently switched to Direct TV(if they ever show up, been waiting since 8am yesterday but that is a different rant) and the spouse is the one that called in.

They specifically said "we are going to pull your credit report". Now, we didn't inquire as to whether it would be a soft or hard, as we figured it would be a hard.

I have my doubts on whether their CSR know the difference in hard/soft. Maybe they think since they don't actually see your entire report on their screen, just a simple approve/deny, that it is a soft. Who knows.

But, as ByrdMan mentioned, there are many posts about this and members who were told it would be a soft hit.

If I were you, I would send a letter asking them to recode as a soft. Also, I would contact the BBB and alert them of this practice. If you search "hard pull direct tv", you will likely find a lot of posts about it and what members did to rectify the problem. If they don't respond to the letter, send an ITS letter.

Sidewinder, I agree with you about the CSRs probably not knowing the difference, but I would bet you that the muckety-mucks know the difference, and with enough complaints to the same, should disseminate the information. Training on something like this should not be difficult.

And to be in the loop BEFORE the report is pulled and not find out about the INQ afterwards.

Good luck

Message Edited by Geordi on 01-11-2009 09:25 AM
