I was alerted to an inquiry on my credit from a monitoring service run by Experian for AAA members. I had gone through a BK that has since been discharged, and the hard inquiry was from a creditor discharged in the BK. I called the creditor, and they stated they had not received info from the court that the case was discharged so they did the inquiry to see what the status of the case. I explained that this hurts my credit, and they are willing to fix but do not know how to do this online with their system. I called Experian 2x today and both times, after fighting through the maze of options, got reps who would not accept a dispute of the inquiry and would not help me help the creditor fix their error.

I could not dispute the inquiry online, and they told me that I have to get the creditor to send me a letter to describe why they pulled the inquiry and that they want it dropped! They also told me to tell the creditor to call their Experian business rep to get help with their system and to explain the difference between hard and soft pulls.

I did a search here on the board, and in reading the FCRA I do not think this is a permissible use of the inquiry.

I asked for a supervisor to escalate at Experian, and they sad someone would call me but I am still waiting for that call.

Since it will take a while to get the letter and to send it to Experian, I wanted to ask if others have experienced this lately, and if there are other steps I should or can take to get this inquiry dropped from my report.

Thanks.

Most recent scores: EX: 650 (Haven't pulled since this happened) EQ: 656 TU: 611

Is it just me or is Experian a lot more difficult to work with on credit report inaccuracies than Trans Union and Equifax?

They are very short on the phone and I was informed that they do not except any faxes nor do they contact the creditors by mail/phone on disputes. Furthermore, they do not accept any hard copy supporting documentation. I seriously doubt that Experian makes any serious attempt to investigate disputes. I have worked diligently with both Equifax and Trans Union on inaccurate information as well as non-autorized inquiries with good results. However, the same accounts and inquiries have not been updated or deleted by Experian in spite of several requests.

I agree. EX is very hard to deal with for myself too. If you have disputed something already and they say its verified, and you try to dispute it again months later, it would tell you "we have already verified this item" and it won't let you submit the dispute online.

I even tried to get inaccurate addresses removed from my reports, Experian denied that request.

I have been thinking about reporting them to the better bussiness b--- I got a 3 combined report and score---not from them. When I wanted to dispute, I could only do on line---and ONLY if I had THEIR report--and it required their report code. I tried calling, but the number listed for customer service was only a machine that told you to go on line. So, in order to get the info corrected, I had to buy their report for $10---being that it is my credit---I paid. After the disputes were investigated, some information was still left, I tried to get it settled, but the on line site told me that it was already investagated and resolved---but it wasn't ---says paid in full but amount due with a dollar amount. I am still 2 months later trying to get it resolved. I think it is a total scam that they make money off me, selling MY personal information, yet take no responsibility as to their actions and how it effects their customers!--

I immediately went back to the website and it did let me dispute again. The results came back 30 days later, and to my surprise it was removed!!! Good luck!!!

Experian needs to be stopped. Please all go to the FTC.Gov, click the tab consumer protection, then the link to "File a complaint" The more we get everyone to file a complaint on Experians unfair practices, not disputing debts, re-aging debts, etc, then maybe we will be one step closer to getting the FTC to do something about it. Also if you have a video camera, record the problems that Experian gives you and show it on youtube. If it makes headlines on youtube, it will make headlines on CNN. Also you can call your local news investigative reporter to do a story on them. The more heat they feel maybe the quicker they will change. Maybe but it all helps.

I've had several problems with them. I have a judgement that was also a collection. Judgement shows satisfied with all 3 bureaus. Collection shows Paid in status to both TU and EQ but shows "Seriously past due" and nicks my husband each month. I've worked with the collection company. She goes in to update and show it as paid, as she has done with the other 2 bureaus and its still showing wrong. Each time she updates it, there is another ding as collection for the month. I've spoken to experian about the issue in the past and they saw the issue themselves and said "NO PROBLEM", we'll fix it. Each time it gets "fixed" it screws it up even more. I just put a call into the collection agency again. I wish she'd just remove the darn thing. She probably hates hearing from me every month.
