Who sells my information?

Hi,

Recently I registered in CreditKarma and not long after that I received my FIRST pre-approved credit card. I assume that they sold my information. I really didnt want my information to "enter" this vicious circle and my information to start being redistributed over all kind of agencies. I cheched the CreditKarma privacy policy and they say:

"In the future, advertisers may give specials discounts to you based on your credit (your karma). However no personally identifiable information will ever be disclosed until you give permission to share the data."

I guess they may share my name, address and my credit score, but not the SSN, which I guess is not that bad.

Anyway, I was generally wondering if there is an way to find out who has what information about me, or know for sure if a specific company (like CreditKarma) has shared any of my info?

I think it was the CRAs who shared your information with the CCC, they do this all of the time. You might consider opting-out with the CRAs.

CRA? Does that stay for Credit Reporting Agency? Do you think CreditKarma did share my information?

I can assure that Credit Karma did not sell your information as it is strictly against our privacy policy. The section you quoted refers to the ad and the Karma Offers you see on the site. We don't ever sell/share/rent names, address, email, etc. or anything related to third parties.

As the moderator suggested, you are getting solicitation from traditional CRA pre-screens. Over 6 billion were sent last year alone. If you are not interested in these you can simply out-out with the credit bureaus.

Hello Credit_Karma.....I got a question for you if you have a minute and don't mind answering.

I noticed that the score range you use for your scores is the same score range as FICO uses.

I know the credit scores you provide are not FICO scores, but curious as to why they are based on the same range, 300-850?
