Hi all, quick question, I know we can't get Experian FICO scores anymore, but if one was to get their score from Experian directly, that would be a FAKO score and not a true FICO score correct? Also, any idea if the FAKO score would be relatively close to what your FICO score would be? Thanks!

Hi bear,

You can pull a score from Experian directly which they call a Plus score (FAKO). In my case, I pulled this Plus score to have some idea what a score from them would be. It came in at 587. I've recently applied for a VA Mortgage and they pulled all 3 of my scores, presumably using the FICO scoring model and showed a 659 for Experian.

So the short of it seems that the Plus and FICO scoring models are not similar enough to provide a meaningful comparison.

I would agree with you on that. I have a EX Plus score of 733 and my lender said my EX FICO score was 641. a 92 point difference. I have 700+ on every FAKO I have obtained.

Ugghhh ok that's what I was afraid of, but it figures. It's so frustrating that you can't truly know the FICO score until you actually apply. Oh well, thanks for the help all!

Just a caution to all. Any correlation between any FAKO and FICO is pure coincidence. There is no correlation between the algorithms, therefore, there is no correlation between the resulting scores. Sometimes the FAKOs are higher, lower or equal to FICOs, but it's all a coincidence.
