I hate CCs!! I despise being in debt and at the mercy of discompassionate bleepity-bleeps and knowing I contributed to getting myself in this situation. Every last one of you better hold me accountable if I EVER talk about getting another card. *deep breath, deep breath*

Not to make light of your situation, but......... Tell us how you REALLY feel...... lol

M-R, I saw your other post and know you aren't home at the moment. Want me to find you

a backdoor number? I'd be happy to try, and maybe someone besides the newly-hired

CSR can do something for you. It's certainly worth a try?

I agree with you. I am glad I have no more debt, it was the best decision for me and my circumstances. I needed to change how I think about money and everything else I valued in my life. But you have to remember you did NOT contribute to getting yourself into debt. You are ENTIRELY responsible. And that is ok. Accept your debts or lack of them as something that is 100% under your control and you can make any changes you want. With enough time and money of course.

Thanks D-R! Got back last night and decided to try to regular customer service line and talk to a real live person. (I'm wondering if a human even looked at my email.) She had to talk to a mgr but said the charge would be taken off within 72 hours. Score one for our side!

Thanks, fish! I'm pretty sure that would work. It wasn't a nun, but the piano teacher did that when I was little and I gave up piano real quick!

Scorerise, I appreciate the sentiment and I am someone who acknowledges and takes responsibility for my actions. Without getting into a long story, pieces of which have appeared throughout these forums, I had two deaths in my family 18 months apart, extensive medical/hospital bills for DD, and the RE market crashed when I graduated and got a job down here so the only way we could (ethically) get out from under our former house was to sell it not only for far less than it was worth but also less than we owed. Many people were mailing in keys and walking away but we chose to take on additional debt (basically max'd everything we could) and honorably discharged the old mortgage. So, I feel like we are in the situation we are in partly b/c of stupid decisions on our part and partly because of circumstances that were far and away beyond our control.

Now that my schooling is done and I have a very secure job, DD hasn't been hospitalized for two whole years (somebody knock on wood for me) and DH is about to start a better paying position, my top two financial goals are to pay down debt and get money set aside so that "circumstances" cannot de-rail us so easily in the future! I appreciate your good will and example of getting these things done!

Sorry for your recent hardships. I wasn't criticizing being in debt, just saying to take the reigns. But I was clueless to your specific scenario, so I offer my apologies.

You obviously stepped up and took care of things.

Should have known....

After a week had passed, the $39 fee still had not been credited so I called again. The CSR said there was no record of anyone saying that the fee would be reversed and since I really had gone overlimit, I had to pay the fee.

"A $39 fee for going over two bucks?"

"Yes, ma'am, even if it was 2 cents, its still over limit and according to our agreement, you legitimately owe the fee."

Blood pressure rising, I told her I would need to speak to a manager and she assured me that it would not make a difference but got someone for me. I explained the situation to him, he reviewed my account and said that he would, just this one time, remove the fee but that I needed to be careful to not let it happen again.

So, (a) I want to see this fee actually taken off (and will post when it happens) and (2) leave the experience feeling like I have been reprimanded. Yes, it should not have happened. I shouldn't have allowed my balance to get so close to the limit; however, I thoroughly dislike being treated like a child.

Sorry, just needed to vent. Back to my happy space...

Math_Rocks, all I can say is that one day you will sleep better for the decisions that you have made. Maybe not now, lol, but in the long run.

24 years ago, we remodeled our house. Our kids were one and three years old, and of course, I had no idea that I'd get pregnant again when the workmen left the house.

At one point during the remodeling, with both kids asleep, I really, really had to leave the house. Both the carpenters were there (both long-term veterans of AA, God bless them), and I awkwardly approached them. I said that I really had to go (I was picking up prescriptions), and I had to leave the kids, and if something happened, could they let the firefighters know that there were kids in the house?

I'll never forget their response: we have to get up every morning and look in the mirror, and we are answerable to our consciences, and we have to do what is right, all the time.

Good for you for making the tough decision that will allow you to look in the mirror in the morning!
