how many cc's to apply for?

I own zero cc's and want to apply for just a couple to rebuild my credit.I was rejected yesterday for one,so there's one inquiry.How long should I wait before applying for another? 1 week, 1 month, or is it best to apply back to back?

To help someone answer your question, what are your scores and what kind of bad items do you have on your reports?

My scores are in the high 500's, a CC paid collection, an IRS lien and a paid phone co collection. I have a good BoA card, a good mortgage, and a few good mortgage historys that were sold but still show on my reports,

I just got an unsecured Orchard Bank HSBC card with $500 limit. According to a lot of people here the Orchard card is a fairly easy card to get and a great Credit Builder.

OOPS - I read your question again and I guess I really didn't answer it, you may already know all that I wrote about Orchard...I don't know the answer to your inquiry question but someone here will chime in...

I applied for credit three times in one year. The first two did not ding my credit. The third inquiry dropped it 7pts. For me, two were safe.

Hi! Since you have no cc's I recommend you you pull your FICO reports and scores at this site and also read the thread below courtesy of moderator Tuscani.

What card did you apply for, and who did they pull?
