Help with Equifax Report?

I have received my 3 free annual credit reports. Experian was fine. TransUnion had the wrong birthday but they fixed it after I sent in a fax with proof.

Equifax on the other hand is a bit more of a pain. I got them to fix my incorrect birth date through an online dispute.

The main thing that I'm having trouble with is that they aren't displaying my BoA credit card account on the report. I've had this particular card for about 4-5 years now with no derog's of any sort.

I spoke to at least 3 different reps from BoA and they all said that they do report to all 3 bureaus and that it's basically out of their hands and there's nothing they can do about it.

I speak to Equifax, they say that BoA needs to report it to them and that there's nothing they can do about it unless I call BoA and get them to call Equifax. BoA says they're unable to do that.

I have a letter from BoA that states:

"August 28, 2009

Account ending in: xxxx

Dear ...

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the above-referenced account number.

After extensive research it was determined that there is an issue at the bureaus with your file. Unfortunately, this is not an issue that we can assist you with resolving.

Please contact the bureaus directly for assistance. For your convenience, I have included their phone numbers below:

....

Thank you for choosing Bank of America yadda yadda yadda."

So what the heck do I do? I called BoA one more time and explained the situation how I'm stuck in the middle and neither the bank nor the credit bureau seem to be willing to budge at all from what they've apparently done (and what they're supposed to do) to get this fixed.

I'm about to fax this letter to Equifax and see if it can get them to do anything but I'm not so sure that would accomplish much. Is there like a CEO at Equifax or something that I can CC the fax to in order to get them to actually fix this?

Two of the worst to deal with. Try calling 1-800-481-8948 from 8-6 M-F. I think special handling fax number is 1-866-640-2273. Call both numbers they might be reversed. Good luck with these clowns.

Yea, they are. TransUnion is apparently the one that creditors pull the least but they seem to be the most on point with correcting errors in a timely manner with little trouble.

Experian is tough to get help with unless you have a valid report number but they get stuff done from my experience.

Equifax on the other hand is a huge pain in the ass.

These numbers are for Equifax?

Why I am asking is B OF A could reporting the account and for another reason it not showing when you pull your credit report. The answer to my question might lead to a solution. Also, the bureaus do not use your social security numjber only to find your credit that is just one part of what the bureaus use.

Just an update, I fax'd in that letter from BoA along with a fax cover letter detailing how I'm getting the run around from Equifax claiming BoA isn't reporting and how BoA claims they are.

I got a letter from Equifax stating that they did an investigation and that they "contacted each source directly".

"The Results Of Our Investigation

>>>We have reviewed your concerns and our conclusions are:

The bank of america account number xxxx is is (their typo) currently not reporting on your credit file, if this is a new account

Please allow 60 days for this account to appear. If this is not a new account, your creditor may not report this

Particular type of account to Equifax."

And that's basically it. I told them over the phone, as well as on the fax cover letter, that I have spoken with several reps from BoA and they say they report to all 3 bureaus (my account is 5 years old at least so it's not exactly new). I even fax'd that letter from BoA where they said they report and the problem is on Equifax's end.

At this point I'm even more frustrated than before and don't know what the hell I have to do to get them to fix this. I'm considering fax'ing them again and including the pages from my TransUnion and Experian reports where the Bank of America account is listed but I'm not sure that'd even do any good either considering they seem to have just completely ignored the BoA letter I sent in and gave me some sort of automated response.

Yup, the first number was the fax number, the 2nd got me to an automated system with 6 options.

Chose the option that seemed most likely to fit with the issue at hand and it got me to a rep that I can get to by using the number located on the credit report they sent me out.

They pretty much stated the same thing that I got from calling the last few times with no real resolution to anything.

Message Edited by iDShaDoW on 09-14-2009 03:07 PM
