People tend to get results faster when sending complaints, questions, issues, etc. Basically you choose the creditor, type your letter, and click send. They'll e-mail the exec and will often respond directly to you if you provided contact info. I used PFB for a PFD to Verizon Wireless. An exec. assistant called back in less than a day and accepted my agreement. Doesn't work for everyone though. However, Verizon Wireless keeps records of every letter you send and appearantly that went a long way in getting them to say yes to me. In fact the assistant commented that I've been mailing them quite a bit.

Do you perhaps have a contact you would share at verizon wireless? I have a situation where I moved after paying their early termination fee , and so on , and they later sent a new bill to that address after I thought I had paid and closed the account , now i find it on my credit report as a $170 collection , it just hit this month , so it is killing my score. I am willing to pay them , I just really need it removed from my credit report.

I never had a contact. PFB did provide me with an e-mail as part of the service, but he asked me not to share it. Coincidentally PFB provides that contact to everyone when they send a PFD via PFB. So, if you send one you'll have that e-mail too. However, I've seen other posters get denied by the same person.

IMO, the key is persistence. They accepted the PFD long before the exec. asst. contacted me and he said it was due to the multiples of letters sent. Be persistent with the phone calls too. Be very friendly and they'll reveal more and more info to you (e.g. fax numbers, phone numbers, more addresses). BTW, more than one CSR said that you can get it removed if you moved and didn't get the bill. Be succint in your conversation with them but I'd slide the hint you moved.

I first started sending PFDs using the one most commonly found on the forums:

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/PFD-Example-Letter/m-p/4519#U4519

After 2-3 months, I began to edit the letters and sent the following more than the others:

Account #: ###
Amount: $427.89

To Whom It May Concern:

I am willing to pay this account in full if you agree to immediate deletion of this account from any and all credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion). The purpose of this settlement is merely to have this item removed from my credit files. It is not to be construed as an acknowledgment of liability for this debt in any form.

Certified funds for the full amount of $427.89 will be mailed to Verizon Wireless, if you agree to the terms. In exchange for doing so, Verizon Wireless will delete all references regarding this account from my credit files, and this debt shall be satisfied.

Verizon Wireless agrees to delete all information regarding this account from the credit reporting agencies within one week following receipt of payment as specified above and will not discuss the terms of this settlement with anyone. If contacted by any third party, including credit-reporting agencies, Verizon Wireless will not acknowledge that any settlement offer was made, accepted or executed and will, in fact, deny knowledge of any such account.

If you agree to the above terms, please prepare a letter on your company letterhead agreeing to the same terms as the above settlement offer and have it signed by an authorized representative of Verizon Wireless.

Please address all correspondence regarding this account to:

Joe Bag O' Donuts

Any address

Anytown USA

Thanks in advance,

Joe

_________

I never sent my PFDs to a specific department. I sent it to the address listed on my CRs and expanded my PFD list to include any addresses on their website (e.g. contact us, privacy policy, etc), SEC filings, any addresses from their responses, any addresses listed with govt agencies or groups like the BBB, addresses they gave me over the phone, etc. I figured one way or another, they would deliver my letter to the right person. Virtually all of my addresses were VZW, the PO Box, and the City, State and Zip.

I've never done this with Verizon, and this wasn't pertaining to credit, but once I had a gripe about a product and no one would listen to me. I knew it was a publicly traded company, so I went to Yahoo Finance, got the corporate information, and started contacting the corporate officers. It will give you the names (and salaries) of the top people. (Shareholders have a right to that information, so it's public.)

In my case, it worked. My complaint was resolved. I got a personal phone call.

Well the executive management number seems to be helping me thus far so far I have a rep who is telling me they Verizon doesnt even know when or why my account wasnt cancelled (with early termination fee being paid) I now have an agent locally handling it , complete with extension , and fax number , I am hoping to send the PFD directly to him and see what happens , but it seems like even a dispute they wouldnt have a clue what is happening , since my service was with Alltel and not Verizon.

Yesterday I got a phone message from the person at verizon saying there is now nothing owed on the account and that they pulled it from the credit companies. How long does that take to happen ? I have nothing in writing , but have kept detailed notes of what has transpired , and have a contact person and extension at verizon.
