I received a settlement letter in the mail from Northland Group Inc. Offering to settle a bad debt. The debt is beyond the SOL in California of 4 years.. The Credit Card was charged off in 2002, how can I go about getting these collection letters to stop coming..? Can I send them a letter stating to stop trying to collect the debt since it is beyond statue of limitations. Is there a sample letter that anyone can give me? Or how can I go about this.. Thanks much

I would sent a letter stating that the SOL has expired and that if they continue to bother you, you will file a claim with the Attorney General's Office in your state. That should stop them.

Message Edited by sl on 06-18-2007 07:08 PM
