GW Letter Success Story

Hey gang I just have to say that thank GOD for these forums, I had no idea about writing a letter to a creditor to get a negative mark removed from my credit report until I started reading all the threads here. I had (notice I said HAD ) 2 accounts on my credit report from years ago that I took care of but with the accounts still showing my score was still being affected. I wrote letters to both of the companies asking them to remove the old accounts (politely of course). Well yesterday I get an alert from my score watch saying that there was a change in my score, I thought it may have went lower due to using my cards for some holiday shopping, I was wrong, it actually went up so I got an updated copy of my credit report, low and behold both accounts were gone

Thanks to everyone who posts on here, my scores should definitely move up now with those deletions, and now having positive credit in my name, 2 MC's, 2 store cards, 1 car loan (all in GOOD standing, PIF every month). I have another old collection account from 2006 showing, that I paid off a couple of years ago, I'm going to write a letter to that company as well, I just wanted to see how my first two letters were going to turn out. Just wanted to post another success story.

I sent another GW letter to a CA to try and get an old pd collection removed, it's due to come off in Oct 2010, I haven't heard anything and I've gotten an updated CR and it's still showing. Should I give them a call, try a follow up letter, or just wait until Oct when it's scheduled to fall off?

Sure go ahead and call/write to the CA, you have nothing to lose.....but time and maybe a stamp.

Is this your only CA? Whats the name of the CA? Have your search here to see if they are GW friendly?

Yep this is the only left on my report. The CA is Calvary Portfolio, I didn't even think about doing a search here on the site. I'll give that a shot before I call or write another letter.
