As for FICO scores, FICO is FICO. All else is FAKO. There are only a couple of places outside of myFICO.com you can get your FICO score per each CRA.

@Anonymous wrote:

So let me get this correct, MyFico gives real FICO scores, right?

Correct. You can get Transunion and Equifax FICO's here but not Experian. I suggest you do an internet search for "myfico discount codes" to save a little money. No one has been able to buy their own Experian FICO score since February of 2009. Creditors can pull Experian and also there is a CU (PSECU) in Pennsylvania that supplies that information to it's members only. You can only buy true FICO scores at a few places. You can also purchase your Transunion score at www.transunioncs.com. At www.equifax.com EQ will still sell you an EQ FICO score but they make it very hard to find.

From a BK years ago to:
EX - 9/09 pulled by lender 802, EQ - 10/10-813, TU - 10/10-774

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference. However, the report info is ok. You do get unlimited, full EQ reports on a daily basis if you want them and come in handy to see soft inquiries and detailed account information not found anywhere else. It also monitors all three reports. It sure beats paying $10-$11 per pop for a new EQ report. Now if you don't need to pull your reports but every month, and aren't in the middle of repair, then this service would be a bit costly.

@Anonymous wrote:

Does scorewatch come with credit reports?

I also subscribe to SW. It monitors EQ only for certain changes and being FICO-based, it monitors your EQ FICO score too. With the subscription, you immediately get access to one report, which you must use when you subscribe and after 3 or so months (if you pay monthly), a 2nd EQ FICO report becomes available to you to use whenever you want. If you need to pull future reports, you get them 30% off.

Know that SW won't alert you to everything. If you have baddies drop, for example, SW won't alert you because it can't see if something falls off, only added. Unlike EQ's Creidt COmplete, it won't alert you to decreased balances, only increased. SW does center around your FICO score so it will monitor your EQ for key changes to your EQ report that would result in a change like increased balances, added baddies, added inquiries, etc. It also monitors your EQ FICO score for changes too. Here's the key and is VERY important to know if you subscribe: set your "Target Score" to EXACTLY match your current EQ FICO score. EVERYTIME your EQ FICO score changes, manually go into Settings and change that Target score to exactly match your FICO score. Why do this? BEcause if set as so, everytime your EQ FICO changes, you'll get alerted either way (up or down). This is tedious, but critical in getting the most out of it. If you set your score too low, you won't get alerted until your score passes that point as it drops. If too high, you won't get alerted until it passes that point as it increases. If you match the Target to your current, you get alerted either way. The score-monitoring aspect is done every 7-10 days or so, though, IME, these alerts have come much sooner if my Target score is set correctly.

Sorry, browsewr problem caused a blank post...

I use the Equifax Scorewatch product, and it alerts on any EQ score changes, or changes in account balances. This may be different from the MyFICO Scorewatch product. You also get one "Scorepower" report to start plus one more per year.

The cost is cut roughly in half for NFCU members who order through the NFCU site.

The only credit report available to consumers that contains any regulation as to its content are the reports that you receive through annualcreditreport.com.

FCRA 612(a) entitles the consumer to receive, free of charge, from each CRA, once during any 12-month period, all information in their credit file, as set forth under the expansive disclosure provisions of FCRA 609.

In order to comply witht this statutory disclosure provision, the three major CRAs entered into an agreement with the FTC to jointly establish the web site at annualcreditreport.com.to fill such consumer requests. It is thus the only site available to consumers that has a federally mandated sanction of the provision of the contents of your credit file.

Its obvious limitation is that you can only use it once a year.

No other commercial provider of credit reports has any regulation over the content it offers.

That is why I recommend, as a first and best credit report, the federally sanctioned reports through annualcreditreport.com.
