paid after foreclosure started

I sold my house a day before it was foreclosed on. It was listed as "paid after foresclouse started" I disputed it and my score went up. However, it says it has been disputed on my fico score watch. Will it go back down or should I count on the rise in score?

When you say paid off the day before it foreclosed --- does this mean you were current with all of your payments up to the day you sold the house?

Or do you mean that the bank started to foreclose on you because of missed/late payments. Before they finished the foreclosure process, your house sold?

We were not current. But, we never received anything about a foreclosure until we pulled our credit and there it was. It sold clear and free on the 16th and they say it went to foreclosure on the 17th of the same month. Any advice? This was in 2006.

You might be able to check property records online. I'm sure its different depending on where you live, but I was able to check online and see entries for my property. I don't know what you do if it does say they sent a notice of default. I suppose best case scenario is they either didn't send one or it was sent after the house sold. I'd think if you could see that it was sent after they were paid, then you'd have grounds to dispute, but I'm not sure.

How many months payments were you behind?

3 mont behind when we sold and I GMAC held the mortgage

Just opened my mail and they sent a letter where it had een removed. Now I guess I can look for a score increase maybe. Whew!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear. It might be worth still checking to see if a notice of default was recorded. I don't know what you would do if there was one, or how it affects you, but I would probably look into that to make sure there are no lingering effects even if they do remove it from your CR.
