Hello,

It appears I have a couple of cards listed under my name that do not belong to me... Does anyone know whom I should to turn to in order to dispute this?

It is farily common, and usually due to a creditor not providing correct matching personal information when reporting.

The CRAs use algorithms for matching reporting with the correct consumer file. If the personal information provided by the furnishing party is incorrect or incomplete, it can lead to matching errors, and thus improper posting of one consumer's information in the file of another.

I would begin by calling the reporting creditor, and inform them of their reporting error. They want it posted to their own consumer's file, so should be willing to work with you.

If that informal approach fails, then you can send the CRA a list of your current personal info, and ask them to check what info they used to match the incorrect reporting with your file.

I would not file a dispute, as the isssue is not actually one of inaccurate reporting by the creditor, it is one of administrative handling of their reporting. I would not further mess up my file by having a dispute posted.
