Disputing items on credit report

I was trying to find the best website that you guys could recommend to receive a free credit report that will also allow me to dispute items that appear on the report.

Hello and welcome.

You can get one free report once a year from each CRA at annualcreditreport.com. But remember that you should only dispute items that you truly feel are inaccurate.

Yes. If you can prove that something is reporting longer than the law allows then a dispute is called for.

What are you talking about? Late payments? Collections? Liens? Bankruptcies?

I see. I would definitely pull all three of my reports and go over each of them carefully looking for any errors. It's unlikely that the information will exactly match across all three so don't be surprised by that.

Once you go to the CRA's through annualcreditreport.com you'll see the procedure each CRA requires for disputing.

possible someone else could've requested these reports under my name? All 3 say that i have already received the reposrts in the last year. Any other avenues?

You've not pulled your reports from annualcreditreport.com OR directly through the three bureas in the last 13 months?

Yes it's always possible someone else pulled those reports. All the more reason to check them all for accuracy. You can buy a report from the CRA's. I'm not sure how much it costs though.

Call the CRA and speak with a rep. Maybe they can tell you who asked/pulled for your report under your name.

I would not file a dispute to challenge the failure to exclude information from a CR based on expiration of the credit report exclusion period unless it is based on evidence that the adverse item was reported with an incorrect date that is keeping it in your CR.

The responsibilbity of a credtior or debt collector pertaining to CR exclusion ends with their filing of the correct date of the adverse item.

It is then the responsibility of the CRA to monitor that date, and ensure its CR exclusion. Thus, inaccuracy of credit reporting would not be the issue.

The issue would be failure of the CRA to comply with FCRA 605(a), and should be addressed by filing a complaint with them, not a dispute.

There would be no issue of inaccuracy of reporting for the furnisher to investigate.......

You dont want your CR to be screwed up by a dispute flag.
