Generally you sign a contract with your cell phone provider, it wouldn't be an open account.

Can anyone tell me if a cell phone is an open contract or a written agreement? I've searched the forum and find various answers dating back to 2008. I just want to know if it's an open account or a written agreement. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

I would also check into the federal SOL pertaining to telecomm debt, which I believe has a federal SOL of two years.

Written prior to the wide usage of cell phones, there is some controversy about its applicability, but you might want to do some research on that subject before relying only on your state SOL code.

I was thinking about that, also. From what I've found (via Google), there are some reasons to believe that in Alabama (where I am), it is 2 years for telecomm. However, even that seemed to be dated from the mid 2000's. I wish I could find something more concrete and more recent. Any ideas where I might have luck looking for that info?

It's $1100+ I was hoping to PFD with a lower amount. Back in the day (before job loss of 3 years), I could've paid it but with the money I make now, it'd take me forever. The DOFD is 12/2006
