I didn't realize that was considered to be in the "taboo" category.

Without mentioning it the process in my question here, haven't you already purchased a report via MyFico and are entitled to use it for such purposes? That is the part I don't understand regarding the ethics of it all.

I see what you are saying, but I disagree with your perspective. I'm curious what you think following this statement.

First off, my own words "begin the process" are a bit of a misnomer. You don't actually begin the process until you've submitted a dispute. I mean, if we want to, we can always say that beginning the process starts when you pull your report in the first place. Yes, I am splitting hairs here, but it leads to my second point.

My second point is that you have a better perspective of each account within that file review area. I can see my entire history on an account as opposed to just the last two years. I consider this "area" to be the spot you do, in fact, go to review each file. If MyFico gives you access to it after you've purchased a report, I simply don't understand how something you have access to that you paid for can be considered unethical. They even say "Find and dispute errors on your credit report." The "Find ... errors on your credit and," implies that they expect you to enter that area and LOOK for (hence: find) and dispute (separate commands suggesting more than one reason to go in there).

And, understand, I am discussing/debating this because I am trying to see what the correct perspective is, even if I disagree with what that eventually may be.

We can agree to disagree but IMO what I said I stand by. I have no problem with legitimate disputes but to pretend that you are going to dispute (with no intention of doing so) in order to see something else is not appropriate and the will not be allowed to be discussed.

If you feel I'm being unfair or perhaps too strict you are more than welcome (as are all members) to contact an administartor of this site and voice your concerns.
