Even if you apply for credit when you are under the age of 18 a creditor can still pull your reports. Are you saying that someone else applied for credit using your information ?

Since you don't have a FICO score there is no point in worrying about inquries. Even if you had a FICO score the score damage from a few inquries is very minimal, so it really not worth the trouble to try to get them removed.

+1

If you applied for credit as a minor, you most likely come into any dispute with what the law calls "unclean hands."

Its not worth it to get into a hassle over what is almost an insignificant item..... credit inquiries.

Making inquiries for your credit report does not require your express approval if you initiated a request for credit.

ID theft issue here. You can probably dispute the inquiries. That'll result in a fraud alert which is what you'd want in place anyway, especially with inquiries showing within the past few months. Keep an eye on your reports. Someone has your personal info.

If you did not apply for credit, or a cell phone plan, insurance, apartment, etc then you should definitely put out a fraud and ID theft alert. I saw a news report once where ID thieves are going after minors, particularly because a minor or their parent will not be checking their credit reports for a long time so the thief can really go to town.

Ah!

If the inquiries were not authorized by you, and you can state that affirmatively, then you have the balls in your court.

Just go to your local police station, and file a police report, asserting that you never had any relationship with those creditors that would have provided them any permissible purpose.

After filing the police report, simply send a copy to each creditor who made inquiry for your credit file, requesting, under the provisions of FCRA 609(e), all business records in their possession relating to any asserted business relationship you allegedly had with them. They must comply with that discovery provision of the FCRA.

Any records they provide can then be used to show you were not the actual signatory on those accounts, and thus their lack of permissible access to your CR.

It starts with compelling them to provide documentary support.

An allegation of potential identity theft is the one area of the FCRA that permits consumers to compel discovery. I would use it.

so i take it you just turned 18? I would be serious about this if you didnt apply for any of this. So did all these inquiries result in denials? Are you sure these are hard inquires and not softs? is your address up to date? if these were indeed hard inquiries then you wouldve gotten denial letters in the mail right?

Check carefully. Are these hard inquiries and/or do you also see any of those accounts reporting on your credit report? If so stop delaying and contact the police and put out a fraud report and freeze your reports immediately.

Are these soft inquiries? If so you cannot remove them, as there is no reason to, and it is perfectly normal.

Alsom OP, if these are CapOne apps, then expect inquiries to be found on TU and EQ too. CapOne likes to pull all 3 CRs when you app.

Do the same with Equifax and TransUnion, if you haven't already.

It might be innocent (a combination of someone with a name very similar to yours and the same last four on the SSN), or it might be deliberate fraud, unfortunately by someone who knows your DOB and your SSN.

I'd recomment subscribing to a credit monitoring service. Pay no attention to the "scores" that they give you, or any advice, but they're great for keeping track of what's happening with your credit reports. Check out the most recent posts on this thread for recommendations: CMS Guide

Meanwhile, I'm sorry to hear that this is happening to you. It sucks to know that someone who has access to your personal info seems to be trying a scam.
