FICO scores ignore trade lines reported as lost or stolen. That is why they duplicate the information to new account. Otherwise, you could get rid of late payments by losing your card. You should check that the stolen/lost account is marked as such. If it is not, you are either suffering or benefiing twice.

Hello myFICO Forums, long time listener, first time caller.

I was checking my credit scores today and I noticed that I have one credit card being reported twice on my credit reports. I lost the card last fall and had to get a replacement, but both the original card and the replacement are listed on the credit report. The problem is that my payment history from the lost card was transferred to my new card, so a late payment that occurred with the original card is being reported twice. I began the online process of disputing this with TransUnion, but the online form doesn't have a check box that describes my problem, which made me wonder whether this is just so rare that they don't have a check box for it or if this actually IS a legitimate problem at all.

I know that an account can be reported by the OC and a CA the same time, but this isn't that sort of situation. Can the company do this? Is this something I should dispute? The card was issued by HSBC.

Thanks.

That is standard practice. I have the same thing in my CR.

The lost/stolen designation shoud prevent double counting of the account by the scoring algorithm.

To the OP I hope you don't mind me bringing this post back to life.

I have a BOA secured card that I opened in Feb of this year. As of a few days ago I learned that my card was closed and would be issued a new card but the account was still active. They closed it because they had received an alert or something like that, that my card may have been compromised.

I noticed on my EX CR that the account is now listed twice. The first one states lost/stolen. The second one is the one that now appears to be the new card. Should I worry about AAOA being affected or anything at all? Should I dispute it or leave as is?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

The answer to both posters that have a lost or stolen credit cars. What has happened as it has already been said is standard practice. All the history should trasfer and the date open should be same as well. If all this is true you do not have to woory about it.
