Thrilled! Disputed yesterday online at transunion and gone today!!

Thank you to everyone for your advice! I disputed two things on transunion yesterday and they were removed today! Now I'm anxious to see how it's affected my score, but myfico isn't letting me buy again today, as I just finally bought my scores yesterday. I used the code CPPSAVINGS to get an extra 20% off. One item removed was an overpayment for veterans benefits that I sought out advice on. Thanks tuscani! Wish I would have asked sooner! Looks like I'm going to be able to buy a home sooner than expected! My score has continued to rise with your advice!

Congrats on the successful disputing! Curious, what did you say? I was informed that I had some latepayments removed from my Transunion report which I disputed online via truecredit website. I disputed several accounts requesting they remove late payments because of change in address. This is legitimate because I did change addresses often and I did not receive statements.

Disputed on the phone for item on experian at lunchtime and it was removed by dinnertime. If only everything was this easy! I just said it was over 7 years old and should be removed. I was concerned because my taxes went automatically towards my government overpayment, so I was worried it would be 7 years from last year because it was a payment. I'm on my way to the 700 club!

My score went up another 21 points from yesterday on my transunion report! It's 630! Over 620! I can buy a house! Can't wait to check my experian score. Myfico is saying it's unavailable at the moment... Thanks for your help everyone!

Im just curious about disputing. I disputed many items on my experian report that actually were not mine, and got them removed. The items that you disputed are they yours? or are these things you are disputing yours and your hoping the company can't verify? I have many of those but am not sure how to go about getting rid of them, most are about 5 years old. I am in the process of GW letters but would disputing be better?

I had disputed an item that was near or around the 7 year mark. It wasn't supposed to come off until after July, but I disputed in June. I wish I would have tried earlier. The debt was mine.

I have a question. I was married to a man for 13 years, who managed to destroy every ounce of good credit I had. All of the credit with the exceptoin of the house loan was in my name. I was forced to file bankruptcy due to the fact that when I left him I also left our business, that I had been running for 13 years, and had to completely rebuild my life. I now have an incredible job. I'm furthering my education. I have more money in the bank than I've seen at one time in 17 years. Unfortunately his mortgage keeps popping up on my credit. I've called Experian and they have listed it with my bankruptcy. It seems that the mortgage company has changed hands and the new company didn't get the memo. So...It's back again, and not only is it showing on my credit, but because of the reporting from this company, my credit report is pulling me up under my old married last name and address neither of which have been used by me since 2003. Any suggestions????

Freedom4 - what a fantastic story - people do prevail after their credit is in shambles! I would suggest calling all of them first, then follow up with a letter - that is ridiculous!

I will say though that I disputed a name & address (neither were me) probably 6 years ago, it was removed by TU, and it started showing up again. I just disputed again and they deleted but it's odd how it pops up!
