Optima Recovery PFD truth?

Optima recovery systems holds a hundred dollar hospital debt of mine.

They called me and said theyd take it off my CR if I paid.

I told them I have no problem paying, just send the PFD in writing.

They said they couldnt legally send a PFD letter because they are in Tenn, BT he was like "you have my word if you pay this medical bill, we will delete it from your CR.."

anyone familiar with optima?

also, they said the update the 2nd of every month, so if I paid now January second it would be removed

there is no law against the deletion of entire tradelines. in my book, no letter no money.

they said they will gladly delete it but a PFD letter is illegal they say haha

Dredging up an old thread.

I got the same schpiel from Optima about 3 weeks ago. I decided to bite the bullet and trust his word.

They say that it'll show up in my CR by December. Cross your fingers.

Personally, I would pay.

While not "illegal" to send written agreement to delete based on payment, it is contrary to their credit reporting agreement with the CRAs.

They may have concern with jeopardizing their credit reporting agreement by leaving a paper trail of deletion in exchange for payment.

Additionally implied in their letter may be some concern over doing business in your state. Are they licensed in your state?

I doubt seriously that they would want their dirty laundry aired in a breach of oral contract suit against them over the issue.

Once paid, they have no dog left in the hunt, and little reason to subject themselves to legal action.

Your call, but I would not insist on written confirmation.

Collection removed about 45 days after payment. Verbal confirmation only - they would not provide anything in writing.

Advise on a situation like this .send a cashiers cash . If they have a pay on line mark it payment in full received as agreed please removed from CRA . Had the same situation with another CA they told me it was a one time offer i sent them a PFD .they said they will delete I called them back after I paid through there online payment By check for recorded .after I called them back they told me it was a one time offer I after I paid .i reminded them .you cashed my check which is my receipt and reminded them I will keep calling until it's removed . The rep apologize for the delays and it was removed 3 day after .
There word is somewhat like going to a crap table and roll the dice . Power Trips

Hi there,

I finally reached out to Optima Recovery. I learned that I had not one, but two items in collection with them. One was on my credit report, the other was not; it had already fallen off my report. I paid both for a total of $72 and they faxed over a letter indicating they were paid in full and they will place a request for the accounts to be removed from my credit records. Like someone else stated, they only report to credit reporting agencies at the beginning of the month. So I will learn whether they are actually deleted in early May. I will check back in to let you know whether I was successful. Either way, I am happy to make progress in paying off all my debts.
