Hello fellow Fico´s !

I have a conundrum and was hoping to get some opinions, as a look from a fresh set of eyes is always helpful.

Here is the back story. I am a disabled veteran and while undergoing over 8 yrs of a difficult physical recuperation, we canceled a majority of my open credit lines since they were not going to be used. We were also able to pay off the mortgage and my Ford truck. This left two active credit cards, one being a gas card and the other a visa.

In October, I was able to become self sufficient enough to gain my independence and began applying for new credit. I was given $17k and 3k by Navy FCU, $5500.00 by PenFed, $500 by USAA & $500 by Capital 1.

I discovered that the high credit lines were given using data from TU and Experian, both with true Fico´s at 799 and 810 at the time. The LOW credit lines were given due to inaccurate information by Equifax caused by a *Split File¨. Equifax says there is nothing they can do to correct the problem since the ¨Inaccurate¨ information consists of missing closed accounts ie, my paid off mortgage, Ford motor credit account and previous credit cards, ALL of which had a perfect pay history. Additionally, the two old active accounts show, and I quote ¨NO 81 MONTH PAYMENT DATA AVAILABLE FOR DISPLAY . Even after disputing an incorrect residence address (with faxed documents showing my current address) they can´t even get that right, they still show my old address from 15 yr ago as current.

I can´t see any benefit to allowing creditors to view / review my Equifax file. Both TU and Experian have all my old data available which shows I am not a high credit risk.

I CLOSED the USAA and Capital 1 accounts yesterday, since both refused to look at other credit services or raise my CL and a $500.00 CL is a joke. My three new cards are showing paid in full with a 0% - 1% CL usage, Only downside is these new credit cards are a few months old.

I want to get a bigger truck to better handle my service dog and orthopedic appliances so I can see a new car application in the next 4 months or so. I will not be needing a mortgage and aside from buying some furniture and travel expenses for out of town trips, I won´t be applying for any ¨Toys¨.

In short, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE ME ?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

CHEERS !

Every company doesn't report to EQ. Might just be ad luck but I don't know if that's worth freezing the file. Usually people freeze their files to conceal bad information or make it more difficult to app.
