Why is TransUnion the most popular?

I monitor my scores on many different sites and noticed that TU seems to be the most popular -

Walmart TU

Barclay TU

GoScore TU

Credit Karma TU

Credit.com TU

Merrick GoScore TU

FICO - Equifax

DCU - Equifax

Credit Sesame EX

Yes, a few of them are FAKO but still. I still wish I could get a real EX score.

Because the consumer division of TransUnion has been the most agressive in expanding their services.

I stand corrected. From credit.com's site -

The Credit Report Card includes:

Free Experian credit score
Easy-to-use Credit Report Card
Expert advice about your credit
Free monthly updates

But, most of the other ones provide TU scores.

Simple: those companies negotiated a cheaper rate with TU.

myFICO EX is a real EX score.

The dispute processes on TU is way better than EX/EQ. Creating an account is a very good idea and with TU you dont have to buy a report with EX/EQ u almost have too.

I think it has a lot to do with TU being the least used out of the big 3, atleast in my observation, so as a company they need to branch out more.

All I know is....for me, TU = 17 HP's, EX = 8, EQ = 7. As for Soft pulls...it looks like EX gets pulled the most.

Are you kidding? TU holds about 75% of the credit inquiring/reporting marketshare. TU is HUGE, and most widely used when lenders are inquiring for credit worthiness of applicants.

Source? TU is traditionally the smallest.

No kidding here, just anecdotal evidence. I had 8 new tradelines in 2013 and continue to have 0 inquiries with TU.

It depends on what flavor the creditors want. I seem to have them pulling EX and EQ more often than TU for me.

Correct if I'm wrong, but doesn't it seem likeTU scores are higher then Eq and Ex ?? I know my tu is 15 points higher then the other 2.

I EQ tends to be my highest. Actually, it is the highest since I've really been monitoring my scores in July of 2012. TU is usually the lowest and EX as seen though Credit Sesame is in the middle. I'm waiting for my TU to update in the Walmart site in the next few days then I'll pull my reports so I can compare them to see if there are any obvious reasons for the spread.

When the bureaus were originally setup, they were setup along regional lines.

Fact is more citizens live on the East and West coast than various places in the middle. That still somewhat holds true today though they're all in direct competition with one another now. EX is as near as I can tell the big fish, Equifax is sort of squirrley (my own report resembles that remark), TU is diversifying somewhat but I still think likely is the smallest of the three.
