All 3 credit reporting agencies offer my state a security freeze/lift for free with proof of identity theft/police report. However, I was wondering on how long you get it for free? Is it lifetime or is there a time limit?

Unfortunately, you are referring to a fraud alert. Fraud alert entitles you to view your report twice in a 12 month period. In regard to security freezes, my answer still stands but you should check each Bureau in regards to fees where you live. I know you probably know this but you'll be provided the PIN number and that's what you use.

I want to add as victim of identity theft your initial fee is waived of course you knew that but after that in regards to freezes my previous answer stands.
