Has any one used a GW on judgement?

Just curious if a GW will possibly work on a judgement that has been paid? Has anyone tried it?

How would this work? My understanding is that judgements are recorded at the county recorders office/courthouse and CRA's confirm with the recorder's office.

It is my understanding that either party could remove (I could be wrong). I would assume one would have better luck dealing with the OC.

I heard back today from a company that I had sent a GW letter to, they had place a judgement on me, it is paid.

It reads:

This letter is in response to your correspondence that was received on July 16, 2007.

Unfortunately we are not able to remove a Judgement from a persons credit history, even after they have paid the account in full. Your credit history is a record of how you have paid obligations.

This really sucks!! Think I will pay my obligations on time!

You need to go to the Court Clerks office and file a Motion to Set Aside Judgment. You can google the term set aside judgment or motion to set aside judgment. This should help. Good luck. I am getting ready to do it myself also.

Tuscani, do you have any ideas on how to broach a GW letter involving a judgement? I seems so much more intricate and complex than a 30-day late.

what i did now is i diputed the debt on my credit report, its only on EQ. My hopes maybe they will take as long verifing the judgement as they did getting back to me and it will get deleted. I can always hope! right?

Tu deleted a judgment for me with a gw letter. See below, kind of generic, catered it to my situation.

Since that time I have been working very hard to clear up inconsistencies on my credit report as well as dispute errors. I am enclosing for your review the discharge papers as well as a copy of the creditors who were included in that discharged BK7 and this creditor is one of them.

My dispute all along has been that this creditor put this judgment on my report after receiving electronic notice of our filing of the BK7. This judgment has been deleted from Equifax and Experian as well. I would appreciate the same from you. In your verification of this debt, please provide for me the name, address, and phone number of the individual(s) that you spoke with in doing so. I have tried contacting the Cook County 1st Municipal Court regarding this civil judgment and they can only verify that this is on my record but they don’t give me any further information as how to remove it. I was never served at home and I never received a phone call regarding the judgment or a court date. The first that I ever heard of this was when it appeared on my credit reports.

It has been 5 years since this bankruptcy has been discharged and in that time I have tried to be as consistent with my payments and being responsible as I could have been due to circumstances (loss of employment two times) beyond my control.

What's a GW? I was in a car accident and was hit by a Semi. My car was totalled but I wasn't hurt. so I decided not to sue the company and just count my blessings. I did go to the hospital just to make sure I was okay. I only wanted the insurance company to pay my bills. Well, It took them nearly a year to do it! By this time the hospital had filed a judgment. They finally paid it but it was too late. Now that judgement is affecting my credit really bad. In addition to old collection accounts that I recently paid off. But I think if I can get that judgement removed my credit score would increase tremendously. I even wrote the hospital and court a letter. Has anyone had any luck getting a judgement removed?

Yes, I did. My circumstance was different however in that you had good reason for the judgment not to report. I have no reason like that at all. It was a bill that I thought the insurance had taken care of. Because of two moves in two years, I received no letters from medical office or CA (though I did have forwarding addresses listed with the PO). The first I was aware of an outstanding bill was when I was served. I did not go to court that day (I know, I know...that was pre forum though). Anyway, judgement was in December and I got the money together and paid at the end of January. Long story for your question. Sorry. Anyway, I explained to them, just as I did to you to see if a "poor me" attitude would get me anywhere. It doesn't look like it. I faxed these to the numbers you listed last Thursday. Incidentally, the judgement is listed on all three but dropped from EX with no explanation. Not complaining, just confused.
