Credit Score Addiction (Real Addiction)

Because of Credit Karma.. I will have to get 7 more cards to have an A Score in Total Accounts. Not all of my new cards are shown.

This is something that I am not able to control. My anxiety wont go away until I get 22+ open accounts.

Is anyone else sick like me and how do you do it to control this credit score addiction?

Credit Karma is only a guide and no lender uses their scoreing system or Fako Scores. I would not waste my time on it or let it get under my skin like it's doing you.

Caring what a FAKO website tells you is your problem... and no, I don't have that problem.

Credit Karma/Sesame etc... are good for letting you know when updates hit your report... and not much else.

I like credit seasme shows my score as 618(was higher before I went app crazy). It's my optimistic scoring site, then I come here and get my real score

I do like Credit Karma's tools, like linking my cards to it to get realtime data on my utilization, spending, etc. Not sure If I can do that here, but I use this site mostly for score watch which gives me more accurate picture of where my score is at which is very helpful. I go to credit seasme when I want an inflated score to feel better haha

LOL, lots of us around here are obsessed in one way or another about our credit, but that CK thing of needing 22 accounts to get an A in that scoring category? That's completely bogus. It's some ridiculous CK thing that doesn't apply anywhere in the real world.

You can safely ignore that one and obsess over something sensible instead, like whether your cards are pretty enough.

My auto loan recently started reporting, this put me at 22 accounts. My 4 month panic attack has finally started to subside and I am eating normally again and sleep is now achievable without heavy tranquilzers. My therpist thinks I am doing much better since I hit 22 accounts. Thank god - I didn't even need a car, but it was the only way for me to hit 22 accounts

But seriously, I did just hit 22 accounts and thus an 'A' rating with CK - nothing happened to my score, lol. So if OP is serious please don't let it bother you.

Honestly everyone that is registered on this forum is 'Somewhat" addicted to credit or else they wouldn't be on this forum daily.

I registered here because 1. I wanted to learn more about rebuilding my credit and hearing advice from real live people and 2. I enjoy forums.

So don't feel bad about your addiction... But, like others said don't worry about CK as their scoring is nothing like FICO scoring. The point is to not overwhelm yourself with cards to the point where you get out of control and can't manage. Remember 1 30 day late payment is gonna hurt your score dramatically

I am not sure if this can help with your addiction - I understand often "facts" about something dont change the overwhelming need for it anyway.

I do think you need to consider Credit Karma makes money by advertising credit products, such as credit cards, mortgage loans, personal loans etc.

Its in their best interest to tell you you need to work on your score, and to do so according to them requires you to add more and more credit products. Oddly, a direct match with how they make money.

If you want to aim for a perfect score in something, I would shoot for a real FICO - start by reading the profiles of the high achievers on here (check the high acheiver thread). They dont tend to be people who added 20 CCs to their profile in 2 - 3 years. You could be damaging your real world score, by following the advice of a company that just wants to sell you tradelines from their site.

My three scores when I am dreaming... All 8's so there is no different number anywhere on the fico.
