What should my first action be? I have the money to pay the cards off but I've just been letting it sit there&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;because of the 0% apr. Be sure to pay the CC's off before the intro rate expires.&amp;nbsp; Otherwise, not important before you app for something else&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Just DTI.&amp;nbsp; If you have enough income, it will not be an issue.&amp;nbsp; If you get a car loan, it will be handled the same.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3. The NextGen FICO model likes to see a store CC.&amp;nbsp; NextGen is not used by most mortgages.&amp;nbsp; I haven't seen anything that implies FICO 04 or FICO 08 care about store CC's.&amp;nbsp; If the store card makes financial sense, you could get it now.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; But it will probably slightly lower your score for the mortgage app.&amp;nbsp; I don't think it will lower it enough to stop you from getting the best rates, though.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4.       <description>&lt;P&gt;Welcome to the forums!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Generally speaking installment debt only factors into DTI calculations (mostly): if you need to clear room on the DTI calc then paying off the student loans make sense but this is the only scenario where it does; outside of that, both for FICO improvement and for financial reasons once those 0% promotional APR's end, paying off the credit cards makes sense.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Airstriking the revolving utilization is a quick fix, doesn't need to be done now but I would certainly do so before tackling the student loans.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
