Credit Karma, Quizzle, and Credit Sesame. I do not recommend

Credit Karma, Quizzle, and Credit Sesame... Pretty much the most inaccurate soft pulling apps ever.... Yes for account balances, deragatorys, and just simple usage.... great tools, but as for credit score, they are way off. Even the vantage score is inaccurate and terrible.

Reason being for this post.....

MY significant others credit is in the low 600's now.... and all of these sites are reporting 720 give or take 20-30 points. Luckily I monitor her credit with her, and I know her TRUE score.... Had i not known.... I would have insisted her on a apping spree and it would be a major fail.

CK has my TU score abour 70 points lower then what it is... CS has my experian score about 20 points higher then what it is.. Well Quizzle is all over the board, right now it is fairly accurate but it has been off as much as 80 points as well... Sites are good to track when things are reporting, utilization(possibly), derogs(although this can be wrong) and inquires..Other then that just entertainment.

My CK score is 16pts lower than my TU FICO. My Creditsecure scores however are currently within 10pts of my FICOs, and for a time were as close as 2pts away.

One of the main issues with CK is the have no clue how to penalize you on HP's... That is the biggest thing I can see that is wrong with there formulas.. Each time I take a HP it is like a 10-15 point drop on CK, vs TU FICO maybe 2 or 3? Sure there are other reasons why my score is about 70-80 points lower on CK, but not sure what they are.

CK & Credit Sesame to an extent are useful (as useful goes) for alert monitorings (not always timely but close enough) and of course CK does show you a VALID credit report with relevent data. But Quizzle is the biggest waste of time i ever seen as well as i find their website simply sux so i dumped them after a few months signed up. You have to email and wait for them to reply (can take days) just to delete your account too (not good), but what do you expect since they are also based in a city gone Bankrupt

I use them for free credit monitoring, well at least CS and CK. The scores i don't take too seriously. I don't even take fico scores too seriously i care more whats actually on the report than the fico scores.

Oh I agree about what is in the report completly... Scores are just a guage of your overall health, but knowing what is in the report is more helpful, but scores can pretty much give you an idea of that at a 1 second glance.

I don't trust the score, but I trust the change in score, if that makes sense. If my score goes up or down a bunch, there is a reason why, which I then investigate. But yeah, CK 20 points low for me, 80 for DW

They CANNOT offer true FICO's anyway. Can you imagine that cost burden for them for every single member every update? As mentioned above you can't even really rely too much on a true FICO (except the latest one maybe). Lenders can selectively purchase any number of the many fashions of FICO especially when they are super conservative.

Agreed. CK offers me one full TU report per week and free TU credit monitoring. All for free. That is quite amazing.
Really the only thing i wish i could have along these lines is a free EQ credit monitoring website. Are there any?

No thats why i orginally paid for the myfico eq one it did monitoring and gave fico score. This is an bit off topic but I am intrigued to see if citi really will offer free fico scores with their cards starting next month, and if amex will follow suit with free ex fico score.

Others have stated this, but I am going to do so again.

CK, CS, Quizzle and similar sites are awesome. They are not meant to track your score. Rather, they offer free credit monitoring services. Especially CK because it allows you to pull weekly reports. I don't care what my score is on any given day. Sometimes I need it (e.g. major loan planned), but in general, I would rather not pay 60 dollars (or 20 dollars a month) for my official FICO scores. Even those paid scores are not always useful (e.g. FICO 08 scores offered here are not used for most home mortgages). What I do want to know, however, is whether any mistakes or derogatory marks show up on my reports. Free monitoring services let me watch my credit report and make sure I know about any bad marks quickly.

There are times when you need a score. For those times you can either pay or get a free score from one of the banks or CCs that offer it (e.g. Discover or Barclays for TU 08). But most of the time what I want is access to my credit report or just a monitoring service that informs me of new TLs. For the latter, services like CK are awesome.

First off, there's no one "true" score. Even with FICO there are a number of different scoring models in use and even with one given scoring model you still have 3 CRA's with potentially different data used to generate scores.

Second, you cannot rely on a score generated by one scoring model to determine a score generated by an entirely different scoring model even if both models are FICO's. You should expect different algorithms to produce different results.

I suggest focusing on the data in your reports versus specific numbers for those reasons. Good reports will lead to good scores. It's never just a matter of score anyway. I can understand why people want to rely on a simple metric like score but relying solely on the numbers has its pitfalls.

This is so true, I take advantage of the free offer and education myself with the information not so much the score.
