All,

Ok so have 2 accounts that i would absolutely love to have removed from my credit history. Sort of a huge long mess of a story but here we go!

1st: I applied for my very first Credit Card (Sears Card) with a limit of 300. As a young one I had not idea how credit worked and since my parents were foreign there was no way they would be able to explain the process to me. I was completely lost. So I used the card once and due to financial situations I completely forgot about the card all together. I eventually paid it off after receiving so many notices.Later, I became a little more wise about how credit can affect my career and began to take a look into my current situation at the time. Only to find out that I had two 30 late payments and one 90 late payment.

2nd: Long story short, I took an autoloan to purchase my "Dream Car" and again due to financial situations I was unable to make payments. Since it was a co-loan, me and the other indivual decided to take a look into our options and ended up closing the autoloan all together and all I know is that on my credit report it states: Closed(paid less than agreed on).

I am now much more wiser that before and would like some advice on how to remove these.

Thanks for any help!

First of all, welcome to the forums!

Negative items stay on your credit reports for 7 years. I guess the key question is when was the first late payment reported to the credit bureaus?

You can always try writing a goodwill letter (check the rebuilding credit forum) to see if they will remove the lates/negative information.

You can't just have them removed because they contain negative info. As mentioned above there is the 7 year falloff but you can try a goodwill request (see the Rebulding subforum for more details). However, the creditor is under no obligation to comply if the information is correct. Do what you can to avoid derogs in future.

Thanks all for the advice. I will take a look into the goodwill letter. I understand the derog marks are no ones fault but my own but I am willing to own up to it and take care of it. Thanks again! Everyday there is something new to learn.
