transunion did a hard inquiry?

I just got an alert from credit karma and capital one credit tracker and when I checked what it was it said I got a new hard inquiry. Went into to details and its from Transunion the company?

Anyone had this happen before?

I just received the same alert. The inquiry is "TRANS UNION/PROD DEVELOP".

Im actually on the phone with Transunion right this very moment. Ill update when I know more what that is

Called 800-916-8800 and transferred to "Special Handling Division". They could not figure out who that inquiry is from. A supervisor joined the call and said it looks like a third party credit monitoring site. They could not confirm if that is 100% true tho. I have a few credit monitors that use Transunion... Credit Karma, Credit Tracker by CapOne, and Credit Secure by AMEX. But, last week, I tried a new service to try to replace the AMEX one... SmartCredit.com . The front line CSR is foreign, but the transfer is US based. The CSR will try to ask what the call is about, just insist to be transferred as the CSR only reads from script and they cant do anything in terms of investigation

It's like someone is hacking in or something that's not good. I only have Credit Karma and the Cap one credit check. I don't even know what the smart credit is. Thanks for the info. I'll give them a call right away.

Credit card fraud and weird inquiry.

Hi guys,

Today I woke up for work and checked my email, I had received a fraud notification from BoA.

I logged into my online account not using the emails link for safety, turns out someone had tried to charge my travel rewards card twice for "HOTEL GLORIA" for $~900 on the 2nd of this month.

BoA thankfully declined it both times. I got that all sorted out with BoA and they are sending a new card.

Now, weird thing is I got an inquiry on my TU report on the 2nd of this month as well and my email literally had 4-5 credit inq alerts from various services(CK, CS, Quizzle, etc....) this morning as well.

The inquiry looks as such :

TRANS UNION/PROD DEVELOP

555 WEST ADAMS
CHICAGO, IL 60661

Phone number not available

Inquiry Type: Individual

Requested On: 04/02/2015

This is taken from my official TU report straight from the company. It seems the inq is them???

Im worried because of the credit card fraud on the same day.... but something tells me they couldnt get me approved for another card if they tried too many inqs and new accounts..haha

But seriously, anyone know what this is?

I'm on the phone with them now and I'm guessing all the calls are flooding in now. They told me once they figure it out they will give me a call back.

So far my 14 minute call with TU before I'm halfway through my coffee has been EPIC!

Its starting to sound like a computer glitch on Transunion's end. Magically, TU decided to HP every single person.

Please, let me know the outcome. I would be calling them now but my boss already let me go call BoA and we're at the end of tax season so he cant afford to let me go back outside lol.

Its just so weird that I got that TU inq the same day the fraud happened.

I'm being routed to "Special handling" in UNITED STATES because the supervisor got on the phone and verified it was her company and then proceeded to read me the same script the previous non supervisor had read about "getting in touch with the creditor and asking them why they pulled the inq and getting them to send me a statement and then send it to transunion for removal."

I just stopped her and said "While that's a great script you have, it's the same one the previous rep had read me so let me ask you... where are you located?"

she said I had been routed outside the US.

I asked if she could please have me routed to the US at this time!

So I spoke to the special handling division and got some foreign call rep who knew nothing about the inquiry or why I have it on my report.

He recommended I "write" to the address listed on the inquiry.... I Was like no dude, its 2015 I dont "write" to anyone. I use the phone and email.

TU is so worthless. Whatever, just pile the inq on with my other 26 on my TU. Not like it matters.

okay, It's a known issue and it was a system glitch of some sort.

800-916-8800 - but this goes to india but you can ask for the us if you want like i did.

but she says it's probably something that you don't have to call in that it will probably be caught and fixed shortly because they know about it.

The rep took both my partners and I's contact info and said that someone would probably call back but either way it was being worked on and a known issue.

I feel better now!

I called the same number and got a foreign rep who knew literally nothing other than the address on the inq which I already knew.

He wanted me to write to them to get it removed..... yeah no.

I told him it was probably a system glitch and it looks like it was!
