I think you have to freeze each of the bureaus individually. So if you freeze TU, others will still allow you to HP.

I believe each CB has a fee they require to do this as well, to about the tune of $15 each, and you have to pay it again when you un-freeze.

Is it worth $45-90 to you?

Freezing reports is typically something done when fraud is expected or detected.

In general, freezing costs $10 per bureau; but you could get it free in some states anyway and everywhere if you are a victim of fraud.

Once reports are frozen, all of your major current banks will be able to SP for account review and CLIs. If the bank has a policy of HP for CLI they will ask you to remove the freeze. I guess either Comenity or Synchrony asks to remove freeze even for SP. But I guess they are the only ones.

The freeze is an effective way of staying in the garden. The cost of temporary lifting is generally the same as putting the freeze. The cost and effort create an effective barrier for frivolous apps. That way, you could hit "apply now" button after a couple of glasses but wake up in the morning with no regrets.
