The FCRA has an identity theft process that permits consumers to get any information blocked from their credit report if they are willing to file a police report that asserts the account or transactions were not authorized by them, and thus resulted from identity theft. No concurrence of the creditor is required if you send the police reprot to the CRA. It will then be removed from your credit report.

See FCRA 605B and the detalied discussion of the identity theft process posted in the sticky thread under General Credit Topics here int he forum.

I opened a sams club personal credit card account about a year ago. 437.00 limit. After 6 months I was bumped up to 7000.00. I got a call from synchrony bank about charges in California. I'm in Massachusetts. I told them I did not recognize nor make these purchases at sams and walmart totalling almost 6000.00! They closed the account and I got a new member card and credit account #. they've had me do this 3 times ! now the fraud was resolved. They put my limit back to 437.00. I said my limit wad 7000.00. They said I'd have to request a credit line increase? ??? well I did and they said it was lowered because of things on my credit report. well the credit reports have improved greatly since I originally got the card. They said nothing they can do! does this seem fair? this was nothing to do with me! I did nothing wrong. someone hacked their system. so why am I bet punished?
